Atletico Madrid reject offer in excess of N66b for Nigerian striker
Published: June 15, 2024
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Atletico Madrid have rejected West Ham's bid for Spanish-born Nigerian striker Samuel Omorodion.
The report states that the Hammers tabled an offer in excess of €35m approximately N66 billion in Nigerian currency) for the talented striker two weeks ago but the offer was rejected by Atletico Madrid.
West Ham need to bolster their striking department with Michail Antonio set to depart the club upon the expiration of his contract at the end of this month and Danny Ings failing to impress last season.
The London-based side seem to have been impressed with Omorodion's decent loan spell with Deportivo Alavés last season where he registered eight goals and one assist in all competitions.
His form took a hit toward the end of the season, failing to score or assist in his last 12 games in the Spanish La Liga which also affected Alavés but that hasn't deterred clubs from expressing interest in his signature.
Besides West Ham, Romano also confirmed that the Spain youth international has suitors in the Serie A including Roma who appear to be ready to let go of former Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham.
But it is only the Premier League outfit that has tabled an official bid for the 20-year-old at the moment.
