Trabzonspor shake hands with Onuachu but no agreement yet with Southampton
Published: July 14, 2024
Turkish Super Lig club Trabzonspor have agreed personal terms with Paul Onuachu, according to reports.
Turkish sports daily Fanatik says Trabzonspor shook hands with the Nigeria international but a deal is not in place yet because no agreement has been reached with Premier League new boys Southampton as of now.
Onuachu spent last season on loan at Trabzonspor and had a storybook campaign with 21 goal involvements (17 goals, 4 assists) in 25 games across all competitions, helping the Black Sea Storm finish third in the Super Lig.
The FC Ebedei product has made it clear that his priority is to return to Trabzonspor for the forthcoming campaign and has rejected several offers from other clubs.
The lanky center forward has been linked with possible moves to Super Lig new boys Goztepe, Galatasaray, Beşiktaş and Fenerbahçe.
Southampton are demanding a fee of at least nine million euros to sell Onuachu to Trabzonspor, who want to sign him on loan with an obligation to buy included in the proposed deal.
Onuachu is eagerly waiting for Southampton and Trabzonspor to reach an agreement before the start of the 2024-2025 season.
Signed from Belgian club Racing Genk in January 2023, he has a contract with the Saints until June 30, 2026.
