Tyrique George and Carney Chukwuemeka were subbed in as Chelsea thrashed League Two side Barrow 5-0 in the third round of the Carabao Cup played on Tuesday night at Stamford Bridge.
Christopher Nkunku opened the scoring in the 8th minute, finding the bottom corner from João Felix's pass, and he was also responsible for the second goal seven minutes later.
An own goal from Paul Farman in the 28th minute gave the home side a three-goal cushion which they held onto till the end of the first half.
Three minutes into the second half, Pedro Neto swept the ball into the net from Mikhailo Mudryk's cross before Nkunku scored the fifth goal, dispossessing the goalkeeper to put the ball home and register his hat-trick.
George replaced Neto in the 63rd minute to mark his first appearance in the competition and his second for the season.
The talented Nigerian forward got the chance to get himself on the scoresheet but couldn't maintain his composure to find the back of the net.
Chukwuemeka also got his first taste of action for the season, replacing Felix in the 76th minute to make his season debut for Chelsea.
Prior to facing Barrow, the 20-year-old hadn’t featured in a competitive match since his substitute appearance in the Blues' 6-0 demolition of Everton back in April.
