Back-to-back goals for Lookman in Serie A but Atalanta are beaten by Cesc Fabregas' Como
Published: September 24, 2024
Ademola Lookman scored as Atalanta lost 3-2 to a Como team coach by former Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fàbregas in a Serie A fixture played on Tuesday night at the Gewiss Stadium.
Davide Zappacosta got Atalanta off to a flying start in the 18th minute, producing an excellent technique to bury his shot into the bottom left corner from outside the penalty area.
A minute after the start of the second half, Gabriel Strefezza drew level for the away side, courtesy of an assist from former Barcelona midfielder Sergio Roberto.
An own goal from Sead Kolašinac put Como ahead and that forced Gian Piero Gasperino to ring some changes.
Lookman replaced Mateo Retegui while Juan Cuadrado came in for Zappacosta but the changes made no effect as Como extended their lead.
Two minutes before the hour mark, Alieu Fadera gave them a two-goal cushion, beating his markers before unleashing an unstoppable shot beyond the reach of the goalkeeper.
Atalanta got a consolatory goal in the stoppage time after Vanja Vlahovic was brought down in the penalty area and Lookman stepped up to convert from the spot.
The Super Eagles forward has netted in the past two consecutive games in Serie A, taking his goal involvement to three for the season, after featuring in just two games.
