Leicester City midfielder Ndidi leading the Premier League charts for tackles
Published: October 24, 2024
Super Eagles star Wilfried Ndidi is proving to be one of the most industrious players in the Premier League this season.
According to the official website of the Premier League, the Leicester City midfielder has made 32 tackles in the English top-flight since the start of the season, the most in the division, two more than his closest challenger Wolverhampton Wanderers' João Gomes.
Ndidi has always been known for his tackling ability, but it is remarkable that he is leading the chart because he has just staged a return to the Premier League alongside his Foxes teammate.
The veteran midfielder has started every game for Steve Cooper's side, proving yet again his importance to the squad and he is expected to play a vital role to help the former Premier League champions maintain their top-flight status.
Not only has he been contributing defensively, but he has also chipped in four assists, a figure not bettered by any of his teammates, and only Arsenal forward Bukayo Saka, Chelsea star Cole Palmer and Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah have more in the entire division.
Having helped Leicester race back from a two-goal deficit to clinch the maximum points against Southampton at St.Mary's last weekend, he has now joined the exclusive of Nigerian players to have made 200 Premier League appearances.
