Confirmed: Super Falcons striker joins Osimhen at Turkish club Galatasaray
Published: November 03, 2024Through official channels, Turkish Super Lig champions Galatasaray have announced the signing of Super Falcons striker Flourish Chioma Sabastine.
Sabastine is the third Nigerian player signed by Galatasaray in recent months, following in the footsteps of international teammate Tosin Demehin and reigning African Footballer of the Year Victor Osimhen, who plays for the Men's team.
By putting pen to paper on a one-year contract with the Lioness, she ended her one-year association with French Première Ligue side Stade de Reims Féminines.
A product of Unnich FA, Sabastine played for Bayelsa Queens in her homeland before moving to Europe.
During her time with Bayelsa United, she won three titles and established a reputation as one of the most promising talents in the league.
Sabastine made headlines at the 2022 and 2024 Fifa U20 Women's World Cups, scoring the winning goals for the Falconets in victories against France and Korea Republic and was also on target in a 4-0 win versus Venezuela.
The 20-year-old was in the Super Falcons team that faced Japan in a friendly in 2022, coming off the bench to replace Uchenna Kanu in the closing minutes.
The Aba-born forward will be hoping to emulate Osimhen who has started his Galatasaray career in the best possible way, registering eight goal involvements in his first seven games across all competitions.
