Besiktas join Everton in race for Super Eagles star with 50 career goals for club and country
Published: November 15, 2024Süper Lig side Beşiktaş have been credited with an interest in Super Eagles dazzling winger Samuel Chukwueze ahead of the January transfer window.
Chukwueze has notched fifty career goals for club and country since turning professional, comprising 37 for Villarreal's first team, four each for Villarreal's B team and AC Milan, and five for Nigeria's national team, the Super Eagles.
According to Sözcü Newspaper via NTVSpor, the Black and Whites are keen to strengthen their team in the winter transfer window, and Chukwueze is one of the players being targeted by the club.
The 2015 Fifa U17 World Cup winner has struggled to secure a starting berth at AC Milan, thereby putting uncertainty around his future at the San Siro.
Chukwueze has started six games across all competitions for Paulo Fonseca's side this term, all of which have been in the Serie A, and it appears that he is yet to earn the full trust of his manager.
Besides Beşiktaş, Everton have also been linked with the 25-year-old, but it remains to be seen whether he would be keen on joining the Istanbul-based side or the Premier League outfit or even leaving the Rossoneri in the next transfer window.
Another player on the radar of Beşiktaş is Olympique Lyonnais forward Rayan Cherki as they seek to capitalize on the financial predicament of the French side to sign the talented forward.
Lyon face a relegation penalty due to the inability to pay a 500 million Euros debt and have to sell players in January to preserve their French top-flight status with Cherki alongside former Liverpool forward Alex Oxlade Chamberlain expected to be sold.
