'If Osimhen won't be there' - Club icon backs Galatasaray to land bigger striker if Nigerian moves on
Published: December 01, 2024
Former Galatasaray star Burak Yılmaz has expressed confidence in the Turkish champions' ability to attract a superior striker should Victor Osimhen depart the club this summer.
Osimhen, who joined Galatasaray on loan from Napoli in September, has made a significant impact during his tenure, netting eight goals and providing five assists in just eleven matches across all competitions.
His impressive performances have caught the attention of several elite European clubs, fueling speculation about his potential exit.
Despite the rumours, the Nigerian forward has publicly stated his desire to remain with Galatasaray until at least the end of the season.
Speaking on the 343 Digital YouTube channel via habersarikirmizi, Yılmaz reassured fans about the club's forward options for the future.
"The best center forwards and goalkeepers have always been at Galatasaray," he remarked.
"If Icardi won't be at Galatasaray, Osimhen will be there, if Osimhen won't be there, someone better will come. Don't worry."
Yılmaz also touched on the strong cultural identity within Galatasaray, reminiscing about the legendary "Florya water" and how it symbolizes the club's rich history and community.
"I heard about Florya water in Galatasaray and drank it. This is a culture in Galatasaray. If Osimhen comes and suddenly becomes a Galatasaray fan, then there is something there," he added, hinting at the unique allure of the club.
As the winter transfer window approaches, Galatasaray fans remained hopeful that the club will continue to build on its legacy of securing top-tier talent, regardless of the outcome of Osimhen's future.
