'We need to give everything' - CHAN Eagles coach Ogunmodede ahead of showdown against Ghana
Published: December 25, 2024
Stand-in coach Daniel Ogunmodede has issued a stern warning to the Super Eagles B team players, urging them to avoid complacency ahead of their crucial second-leg encounter against Ghana in Uyo.
The first leg of the CHAN qualifier, held at the Accra Stadium on Sunday, ended in a goalless draw, leaving the tie wide open with both teams still equally poised to qualify for the tournament.
Speaking upon the team's return to Nigeria, Ogunmodede emphasized the need for total focus, determination, and seriousness from the players as they prepare for the decisive match.
"We know history is not very sincere with us with these countries, so we decided not to pay attention to what history has done to us," Ogunmodede told the Super Eagles media team.
The Remo Stars manager highlighted the significance of the match, stressing that a successful qualification would not only benefit the current squad but also promote the domestic league and improve the prospects of Nigerian football as a whole.
"We pay maximum attention to the present and what the future holds for us. We know how important if we qualify, we have good future for ourselves, for the players, coaches, country, and the incoming generation of footballers in the country.
"We need to give everything to be a good market for the league."
With the tie still hanging in the balance, the Super Eagles B team will be looking to deliver a strong performance in Uyo to secure their place in the CHAN tournament.
