Nigerian exports: Bromley CB Sowunmi can't stop scoring; Rotherham's Odoffin, Crawley's Showunmi strike
Published: December 29, 2024
Allnigeriasoccer.com's round-up of the Nigeria-eligible players who scored for their respective clubs in league matches across Europe on Sunday, December 29.
In the English Football League One, Super Eagles hopeful Hakeem Odoffin took his tally for the season to four goals in all competitions by getting on the scoresheet in the first half of Rotherham United's 1-1 draw with Stockport County at the New York Stadium.
After the visitors took the lead in the 13th minute, Odoffin restored parity six minutes later when he deftly lifted a header past goalkeeper Ben Hinchliffe.
Elsewhere, Tola Showunmi netted Crawley Town's third goal in their entertaining 4-4 draw against Exeter City at St James Park.
With three minutes remaining in the first half, Showunmi pounced on a defensive mistake, sliding the ball home to strengthen Crawley Town's lead and took his tally for the season to six in all competitions.
In the League Two, goalscoring central defender Omar Sowunmi is in the form of his life, netting for the third consecutive game in the fourth tier of English football as Bromley and Swindon Town shared the spoils with a 1-1 draw at Hayes Lane.
Midway through the second half, Sowunmi's downward header beat the Swindon goalkeeper after a great delivery from compatriot Idris Odutayo.
In the Scottish Premiership, St Mirren's 2-1 loss to Dundee at The SMISA Stadium (Paisley) rendered Toyosi Olusanya's goal meaningless.
The former Middlesbrough forward headed in a brilliant ball in from Bwomono to make it 1-1 in the 44th minute, only for Simon Murray to score what proved to be the game-winning goal at minute 66.
