Newcastle United's tri-national forward Jacob Murphy has been included in WhoScored's Carabao Cup semifinal Team of the Week following his outstanding performance during the Magpies' 2-0 win over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night.
Born in London, Murphy is eligible to represent his country of birth England as well as Nigeria and Republic of Ireland through his father and mother respectively.
He has been provisionally cap-tied to England for more than eleven years, and has caps for the Young Lions at U18, U19, U20 and U21 levels.
The Magpies took a big step towards qualifying for the final of the Carabao Cup, thanks to goals either side of halftime from Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon, albeit against the run of play.
Despite Isak and Gordon grabbing the headlines, Murphy stood out as well, delivering an assist and receiving a 7.07 rating for his display against the Gunners.
In the Carabao Cup Team of the Week's 4-3-3 formation, the 29-year-old is part of a front three that also includes Newcastle United teammates Isak and Gordon.
Tottenham Hotspur's brand new signing Antonin Kinsky is protected by a back four of Pedro Porro (Tottenham), Sven Botman (Newcastle), Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool) and Djed Spence (Tottenham).
The midfield is made up of Tottenham's Lucas Bergvall, Newcastle's Sandro Tonali and Arsenal's Declan Rice..
Murphy is having an outstanding season, having directly participated in ten goal across nineteen appearances.
Against Arsenal, he managed two key passes, successfully executed one dribble and recorded 20 touches during his 65 minutes on the pitch.
