What Auxerre coach told the players at half-time after Gabriel Osho's red card

Christophe Pélissier, head coach of AJ Auxerre, has revealed the message he delivered to his players at halftime during their 2-0 defeat to Angers on Sunday after Gabriel Osho was sent off in the 22nd minute.
Osho received a red card midway through the first half for a tackle on Estéban Lepaul, who was advancing towards goal, with the foul deemed to have unbalanced his opponent.
With Auxerre down to ten men for the remainder of the match, Pélissier needed to keep his team composed.
During his post-match interview, the coach shared the advice he gave his players at halftime.
"After that, there was a sending-off. At half-time, we said to stay calm, to hold at least this score (0-1), and to push in the last quarter of an hour to go and get something," Pélissier said.
However, the coach lamented that his team's attempts to recover were thwarted by further mistakes.
"After one or two minutes, we sabotaged ourselves again by trying to dribble in our own half. We lost a ball which led to the second goal where they played the shot very well.
"It was a small match. We gave it away once again on errors. It is not the first time away and it is difficult to explain," he added.
The match against Angers marked Osho's first red card of the season.
Known for his solid defensive performances and contributions in attack, Osho has scored one goal in thirteen league appearances for Auxerre.
As a result of the red card, Osho will miss Auxerre's next league fixture against AS Saint-Étienne on Friday, January 24, 2024.
