Emmanuel Dennis squad number revealed ahead of Blackburn Rovers first team debut
Published: February 09, 2025
Championship club Blackburn Rovers have revealed Emmanuel Dennis' squad number ahead of a potential debut in the coming days, if not hours.
The Nigeria international will sport the number 42 on the back of his jersey if he makes his competitive first team debut on Sunday afternoon when Blackburn Rovers battle Premier League opponents Wolverhampton Wanderers in the fourth round of the Emirates FA Cup.
Dennis was given an opportunity to get his fitness levels up the next day after completing a deadline loan move from Nottingham Forest, playing the first half of a 2-1 loss to Athletic Bilbao in a rearranged Premier League International Cup match at Accrington Stanley’s Wham Stadium.
The last time the Super Eagles forward played first-team football was on April 27, 2024, when he logged 45 minutes in Watford's Championship clash with Sunderland.
At club level, the number 42 is seemingly Dennis' favorite kit number, considering the fact that he wore the number at Zorya Lugansk and for four seasons at Belgian outfit Club Brugge.
The Super Eagles star sported the number 43 jersey while on loan at Cologne in the second half of the 2020-2021 season.
He wore number 25 at both Watford and Nottingham Forest, and at Basaksehir FK, he played with the number 99 on the back of his jersey.
Blackburn Rovers' number 42 jersey became vacant following the return of Chelsea academy graduate Lewis Baker to Stoke City last month.
Rory Finneran, Deyovaisio Zeefuik, Joe Rankin-Costello, Lewis Travis, Kellen Daly, Sebastian Usai and Rostyn Griffiths have all worn Blackburn Rovers number 42 kit in the past.
