Olalekan Ibrahim: Transfer of Flying Eagles striker to Ferencvarosi is done and dusted
Published: February 18, 2025
Hungarian top-flight club Ferencvarosi TC have completed the signing of Nigerian forward Alonge Ibrahim Olalekan from Central Football Academy in Abuja.
Alonge, a versatile and skillful attacker, put pen to paper on a contract after impressing during a trial period.
His performances convinced the club's technical team of his potential to compete at the highest level.
The announcement was made via Instagram by Atta Aneke's Player Media Group, the player's representatives, who facilitated the deal with the European club.
The young forward was a key figure in Nigeria's Flying Eagles squad that won the WAFU Zone B tournament in October 2024, securing a spot at the CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
He was among the scorers in the semifinals against Niger Republic before Nigeria went on to defeat Ghana in the final.
Meanwhile, Alonge was left out of the 30-man squad recently named by Flying Eagles head coach Aliyu Zubairu for a friendly against Egypt as part of preparations for the CAF U-20 AFCON.
Nigeria faces a challenging group in the tournament, drawn against Egypt, South Africa, and Morocco.
The competition, featuring 13 teams, is set to take place from April 26 to May 18.
The Flying Eagles will aim to finish among the top four to secure qualification for the FIFA U-20 World Cup.
