Romano reveals Osimhen wants to be sold but Man Utd have not made any approach for the striker
Published: February 19, 2025
Speaking on his YouTube channel, transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano provided an update on the future of Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, who is spending the season on loan at Turkish Super Lig giants Galatasaray.
The Nigeria international has been in sensational form since landing in Istanbul last September, contributing 24 goals (19 goals, 5 assists) in 24 games across all competitions.
Despite his contract with Napoli running until 2026, the Serie A club has no plans to keep him once he returns from Turkey at the end of the 2024-2025 season.
Romano confirmed that both Napoli and Osimhen are keen on parting ways, and the striker’s contract includes a release clause that will be extended if he isn’t sold by the end of June, and from July 1, that clause will be set at around €75-80 million.
The Super Eagles star is attracting interest from several clubs, with Paris Saint-Germain weighing a move last summer before opting to pursue other targets instead.
Manchester United, actively seeking a new number nine for next season, are monitoring his situation but haven't made any formal approach yet, Romano revealed.
Al-Ahli's interest has resurfaced; they were on the verge of signing Osimhen last summer, but after the deal collapsed, they shifted their focus to Ivan Toney.
This transfer saga promises to heat up as the summer window approaches, with Osimhen on the radar of Europe's top clubs.
Chelsea, who failed to agree a deal with the former African Footballer of the Year last summer, have also been credited with an interest in the 26-year-old.
