Lincoln City's second-youngest scorer: Bournemouth take history-making Nigerian forward on trial
Published: March 07, 2025
Allnigerisoccer.com can exclusively report with certainty that English Premier League club Bournemouth have handed a trial to history-making Nigerian forward Zane Okoro, with a potential transfer on the cards.
Okoro netted his first senior goal for the Imps in a 5-0 win over Manchester City U21s in a Bristol Street Motors Trophy clash on November 12, 2024.
With the goal, he secured his place in Lincoln City's record books, becoming the club's second-youngest scorer at 17 years and 49 days – only sixteen days younger than all-time record holder Andy Hutchinson.
Bournemouth U21s coach observed Okoro at close quarters during the ongoing Professional Development League fixture against Queens Park Rangers at TSG Elite Training & Performance Centre.
The 17-year-old was accompanied to the trial game by his Nigerian father.
He scored the historic goal eight days after making his professional debut in an Emirates FA Cup clash against Chesham.
Seen as a first-team star in the making at Lincoln City, Okoro has earned nine call-ups for official matches, five of which came in League One, but the Imps must now fend off interest to keep hold of the talented teenager.
Born in Norwalk, Connecticut, he is eligible to represent the United States at international level, apart from Nigeria.
