Snubbed by Eric Chelle over fitness concerns, Dele-Bashiru returns to training ahead of Lazio v Torino
Published: March 26, 2025
Super Eagles star Fisayo Dele-Bashiru is in contention to make his comeback from injury on Monday when Lazio face Torino.
Dele-Bashiru was out of action for Lazio on Sunday, March 16, however, according to Tuttomercatoweb, the 24-year-old midfielder could feature for the Eagles on March 31, having returned to training.
While his counterparts were in the country for international duty, he was snubbed by the Super Eagles coach, Eric Chelle due to fitness concerns.
The Manchester City academy graduate was originally named in a 39-man provisional squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe, but did not crack the final 23-man list.
Dele-Bashiru had suffered a sprain to his left ankle couple of weeks ago which kept him out of action for three consecutive matches in the Italian top division prior to the international break.
His fitness and performance in training in the next few days would determine if coach Marco Baroni would put him in action against The Bull.
Dele-Bashiru who is on loan from Turkey Super Lig club Hatayspor since the summer of 2024, has netted five goals in twenty-four appearances across all competitions this term.
Lazio are sixth in the Serie A standings with 51 points after 29 matches played.
