'He'll be out for a while' - Nottingham Forest boss confirms Ola Aina suffered a calf injury
Published: April 03, 2025
This season's Premier League surprise package Nottingham Forest will be without Ola Aina on Saturday, April 5 when they take on Aston Villa at Villa Park.
The Nigeria international was forced off injured during the first half of Forest's 1-0 victory over Manchester United at the City Ground on Tuesday night.
Struggling to walk, Ola Aina was escorted off the pitch by a Nottingham Forest medical team member, hinting at a potentially serious injury.
Allnigeriasoccer.com reported two days ago that the Chelsea academy graduate suffered a possible calf-related injury, leading to his substitution in the 39th minute.
Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espírito Santo has confirmed that the versatile right-back will be sidelined for an unspecified period after tests revealed a calf injury.
The Portuguese football tactician described Ola Aina's absence as a 'big blow,' emphasizing his importance to the team.
"He has already undergone the scan and will be out for a while, unavailable. A big blow (to lose him)," Nuno Espírito Santo told reporters at Thursday's pre-match press conference.
When asked what he will miss about the Nigeria national teamer, Nuno Espírito Santo responded: "His quality, talent, and the routines he already has with his teammates—we are going to miss him.
"It is a problem with the calf."
Aina started all 30 Premier League games for Nottingham Forest this season, logging 2,574 minutes, scoring two goals, and providing one assist.
Nigeria manager Eric Chelle will be monitoring the situation of Ola Aina ahead of the internationals in the summer.
