Victor the finisher: Osimhen scores his 29th goal for Galatasaray amid interest from Europe's elite
Published: April 11, 2025
Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen continued his red-hot scoring form on Friday night, as Galatasaray recorded a 2-0 away win over Samsunspor at the Samsun 19 May Stadium.
On loan from Serie A side Napoli, Osimhen once again proved his worth, finishing calmly past the goalkeeper in the 46th mnute after being expertly set up by teammate Yunus Akgün.
The goal sealed the win for the Turkish giants and reinforced Osimhen’s status as one of Europe’s most in-demand forwards.
The Nigerian international has now registered 29 goals and 6 assists in 33 all-competition appearances, a tally that has not gone unnoticed by top European clubs.
Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, Manchester United, and Juventus are among the heavyweight suitors reportedly monitoring the 26-year-old ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.
Despite his uncertain club future, Osimhen’s current form is a major boost for Nigeria, who are preparing for the Unity Cup tournament in London.
Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle will be hoping the striker maintains his momentum heading into a crucial period for the national team.
Nigeria’s World Cup qualification hopes took a hit after a disappointing 1-1 home draw against Zimbabwe.
The Super Eagles currently sit fourth in their group with seven points—six behind leaders South Africa—with time running out to turn things around.
With Osimhen firing on all cylinders, the Malian tactician will be hopeful that his clinical edge can inspire the Super Eagles’ push for a ticket to the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
