From Hale End to the Premier League: Butler-Oyedeji makes debut for Arsenal in 4-0 rout of Ipswich
Published: April 20, 2025
Liverpool cannot win their second Premier League title on Easter Sunday following Arsenal's 4-0 rout of Ipswich Town at Portman Road.
For Nigerian fans, the headline moment was Nathan Butler-Oyedeji making his Premier League debut for Arsenal at 22 years and 106 days old.
The Hale End Academy graduate was involved in Arsenal's final training session before the trip to Ipswich, paving the way for his inclusion in the gameday squad.
In what was Butler-Oyedeji's 12th squad involvement for a Premier League match, the versatile striker came off the bench to replace Leandro Trossard in the 84th minute, wearing number 37 on the back of his jersey.
Butler-Oyedeji's Premier League bow marked only his second senior appearance for Arsenal, having made his debut off the bench in a Champions League clash against Dinamo Zagreb back in January.
He previously enjoyed loan spells at Accrington Stanley and Cheltenham Town, playing twenty-five matches combined for both teams.
Leandro Trossard's first brace for the Gunners, plus goals from Gabriel Martinelli and Ethan Nwaneri secured an easy win for Arsenal over the Tractor Boys.
Leif Davis's red card for a foul on Bukayo Saka in the first half added more insult to injury.
The Gunners sit second in the standings with 66 points, while Ipswich Town, currently eighteenth, appear doomed for relegation as they are fifteen points from safety with only five games remaining.
