'Let him score 40 goals' - Former Besiktas star claims Galatasaray coach has been unfair to Osimhen
Published: May 05, 2025
Former Besiktas midfielder Sinan Engin has accused Galatasaray head coach Okan Buruk of being unfair to Victor Osimhen, following comments perceived as dismissive of the Nigerian striker's individual brilliance.
The Napoli loanee has been in sensational form since arriving in Turkey last September, scoring 33 goals in all competitions and breaking his personal record for goals in a single season.
Thanks to Osimhen's goalscoring exploits, The Lion are favourites to win the Super Lig and Turkish Cup.
Buruk has come under scrutiny after comments that appeared to downplay Osimhen’s influence, sparking backlash from pundits and fans.
Engin praised the Nigerian star for redefining the role of a striker, suggesting that his performances go beyond tactical frameworks.
In quotes relayed by habersarikirmizi.com, Beyaz TV commentator Sinan Engin said: "Let Osimhen score 40 goals and break records because Osimhen deserves all the praise.
"I'm tired of praising Osimhen every week! Osimhen's performance destroyed the perception of structure.
"Does anyone say structure? Osimhen destroyed that too. He said, 'There is no structure, I exist.'"
Engin hailed Osimhen as Galatasaray's standout transfer in recent years, while also praising the fans for their role in bringing in Mario Lemina.
"The fans bought Lemina . I congratulate the Galatasaray fans. He is the best transfer after Osimhen and Davinson Sanchez," he added.
Osimhen is expected to return to Napoli at the end of the season, with the Italian Serie A club planning to offload him early in the summer transfer window to avoid a repeat of last year when he ended up at Galatasaray after failed moves to Chelsea and Al-Ahli.
