CSKA Moscow legend Chidi Odiah reveals if he will attend Russia v Nigeria friendly
Published: May 25, 2025
CSKA Moscow legend Chidi Odiah has revealed plans to attend the high-profile international friendly between Russia and Nigeria, scheduled for June 6, 2025, at the iconic Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow.
A household name in Russian football during his career, Odiah won multiple domestic titles with CSKA Moscow, including two Russian Premier League championships, five Russian Cups and five Russian Super Cups.
He was instrumental in CSKA's historic 3-1 victory over Sporting CP in the 2005 UEFA Cup final and made 152 appearances for the club, contributing five goals and eight assists.
Speaking to Championat.com on May 17, Odiah said: "I would like to come to Moscow for the Russia-Nigeria match. It is not often that our team gets to play Russia."
On the international stage, Odiah won two bronze medals with the Super Eagles at the Africa Cup of Nations and was Nigeria's starting right-back at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
Since leaving CSKA by mutual consent in 2012, he has lived in Belgium and the United States and was present as a spectator during the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
Odiah remains a revered figure in Russian football and is widely regarded as one of the top 100 foreign players in the history of the Russian Premier League.
