Inzaghi begs Osimhen: Al-Hilal table offer that would break Nigerian record held by Ighalo

In a bid to convince Victor Osimhen concerning a move to Saudi Arabia, Al-Hilal boss Simone Inzaghi has personally spoken with the Nigerian forward to persuade him to make up his mind to play for the Saudi Pro League outfit, II Mattino, via Napoli Calcio News reports.

After increasing their offer for personal terms to Victor Osimhen to €40 million per year, the Saudi club are hopeful a call to share the club project from the former Inter Milan manager would be enough to seal the deal for the 26-year-old.

If Osimhen's move to Al-Hilal goes through, he would become the highest-earning Nigerian footballer in history, surpassing his mentor Odion Ighalo.

2019 Africa Cup of Nations top scorer Ighalo became Nigeria's highest-earning footballer in history following his move to Chinese Super League side Shanghai Shenhua in February 2019.

The former Flying Eagles captain took home more than 12.1 million euros every season at Shanghai Shenhua.

There appears to be some difference in valuation between Galatasaray and Napoli for Osimhen which could hand Al-Hilal an advantage in sealing his transfer.

Should he be willing to move to Al-Hilal, his €75 million release clause quoted by Napoli would not be an issue for the Saudi club.

A slim chance for a resurgence at Napoli seems to be fading after Napoli has committed to getting a deal for Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez over the line.

Still on holiday in Nigeria, Osimhen is yet to commit to a destination for the 25/26 campaign and this wait has sparked his suitors to take actions they hope will tilt the race for his signature in their favour.
