'Not possible' - Pundit insists Osimhen to Juventus not happening if Jonathan David signs
Published: June 25, 2025
Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen looks increasingly unlikely to join Juventus this summer as the Italian giants close in on a deal for Canadian forward Jonathan David, according to Turkish football commentator Levent Ümit Erol.
Speaking on the ongoing transfer saga involving top Turkish sides Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe, Erol revealed that David, whose contract with Lille has expired, has turned down offers from both Istanbul clubs in favour of a move to Serie A.
"Jonathan David, whose contract with Lille has ended, has rejected offers from Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray. He is about to sign with Juventus," Erol said, as quoted by habersarikirmizi.com.
Erol added that this development effectively shuts the door on a possible move to Turin for Osimhen.
"If Juventus signs Jonathan David, the possibility of Osimhen going to Juventus will be eliminated from there."
Osimhen enjoyed a sensational loan spell at Galatasaray last season, scoring 37 goals across all competitions and playing a pivotal role in securing both the Turkish Süper Lig title and the domestic cup.
His dominant performances earned admiration across Europe and sparked speculation about a permanent move or transfer to a top-tier league.
Despite reports linking him to a long-term stay in Istanbul, Osimhen is widely expected to leave Galatasaray this summer, with several clubs reportedly monitoring his situation.
Galatasaray are interested in signing Osimhen on a full deal but face competition from Saudi Pro League moneybags Al-Hilal.
However, with David now leaning towards Juventus, the Turkish champions may be forced to explore other striking options before the start of the new season.
