A year without being sold: Osimhen expected back at Napoli for pre-season, call-up letter ready

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen is expected to report for pre-season training with Napoli next month, despite ongoing speculation linking him with a move away from the Serie A club.
According to reports from Italian newspaper la Repubblica, via CalcioNapoli24, Napoli are preparing to send an official letter on Monday, June 30, instructing the Nigerian international to resume training as the club begins preparations for the upcoming season.
Osimhen, who spent the 2024/25 campaign on loan at Turkish giants Galatasaray, enjoyed a sensational run of form, netting 37 goals and registering eight assists.
His prolific contributions helped the Yellow-Reds secure a domestic double and reignited interest in his services from top clubs around the world.
The 26-year-old forward had a turbulent summer in 2024, marked by a fallout with Napoli management.
He was sidelined from the main squad and made to train separately under Antonio Conte, who was reportedly pushing for the arrival of Romelu Lukaku.
This rift ultimately led to Osimhen's temporary move to Galatasaray after failed deadline day moves to Chelsea and Al Ahli.
Now, with his loan spell officially ending at midnight on Monday, Osimhen is once again under contract and fully at the disposal of Napoli.
The club is set to issue official call-up letters to players ahead of the new campaign, including one for Osimhen.
While transfer rumours continue to swirl — with Al Hilal, Galatasaray, and Manchester United all reportedly interested — no official deal has been reached.
Unless a move materializes in the coming days, the Nigerian star will be expected to rejoin the squad as preseason gets underway.
