'This disgrace' – Former referee slams Galatasaray chief and agent over failed Osimhen deal
Published: July 12, 2025
Former Turkish referee Ahmet Çakar is mocking and criticizing Galatasaray vice president Abdullah Kavukcu and agent George Gardi for embarrassing the Istanbul giants by offering a huge amount of money trying to sign Victor Osimhen and still failing to get the deal over the line, as of now.
After an impressive 2024-2025 campaign, Galatasaray are keen to secure Osimhen on a permanent basis.
Negotiations have become increasingly difficult after Napoli swiftly rejected a €70 million bid, further complicating efforts to reach an agreement.
According to renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Galatasaray have now tabled a revised offer worth €75 million.
The new proposal includes an immediate payment of €40 million, with the remaining €35 million structured in instalments, bank guarantees once again emerging as a critical component of the deal.
However, Napoli have yet to respond to the latest offer from the Turkish champions.
Galatasaray officials have returned to Istanbul without reaching an agreement with Napoli, a development that has sparked the fury of former referee Ahmet Çakar.
Commenting on the Victor Osimhen transfer saga, Çakar was quoted as saying by habersarikirmizi.com: "I congratulate Abdullah Kavukcu and broker Gardi , who gave 75 million euros for Osimhen and couldn't get him, for this disgrace they caused Galatasaray."
Osimhen has made it clear he has no intention of playing for Napoli again despite having a year remaining on his contract, and has also ruled out a move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal.
