'Even Gyokeres would come to Fenerbahce' – Pundit claims Osimhen only wants Galatasaray
Published: July 13, 2025
Turkish football pundit Ertem Şener has stirred debate with remarks comparing Victor Osimhen and Viktor Gyökeres as speculation intensifies around the future of the Nigeria international and his possible return to the Super Lig.
Unwanted at Napoli, Osimhen enjoyed a breakout season during a loan spell at Galatasaray last term, scoring 37 goals in 41 games and finished as the top scorer in the Super Lig.
Galatasaray are keen to sign the former African Footballer of the Year on a permanent deal, but Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis is playing hardball over the sale of the prolific forward.
The Istanbul giants have stepped up their pursuit of Osimhen by submitting an improved offer worth €75 million, meeting Napoli’s valuation of the Nigerian striker.
However, the Italian champions are yet to respond to the latest bid, leaving uncertainty over the future of the 26-year-old.
Şener urged Galatasaray to act swiftly if they are serious about signing Osimhen, adding that the former Lille star prefers a move to Galatasaray and not their bitter rivals Fenerbahce.
"Deposit the €75 million directly into the bank and be done with it. Galatasaray's businessmen need to act quickly. Otherwise, this will become even more difficult," he was quoted as saying by habersarikirmizi.
"Fenerbahçe and Ali Koç are said to be involved. Osimhen definitely doesn't want Fenerbahçe anyway. His only wish is Galatasaray."
The commentator went on to draw a sharp contrast with Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyökeres, who has also been linked with a move to Turkey.
"Even Gyökeres would come to Fenerbahçe, but Osimhen won't," Şener claimed.
Osimhen, who has entered the final year of his contract with Napoli, has scored 76 goals in 133 appearances since joining the Italian club five years ago.
