Okafor's imminent move to Leeds: AC Milan in advanced talks to sign Leverkusen's Boniface

Italian Serie A powerhouse AC Milan are working on a deal to sign Nigeria international Victor Boniface from Bayer Leverkusen, according to reports in Germany.

Boniface and his representative, Atta Aneke, had previously maintained that the forward would remain at Leverkusen for the 2025-2026 season.

However, Sky Sport Germany journalist Patrick Berger has disclosed that Milan and the Bundesliga club are now in advanced negotiations.

The Rossoneri have submitted an official bid within the past 48 hours, which Leverkusen are currently reviewing.

All parties are said to be optimistic about reaching an agreement, with sporting director Igli Tare driving Milan's efforts to complete the signing in the coming days.

Should the move materialise, Boniface could be viewed as a direct replacement for cap-tied Switzerland international of Nigerian descent Noah Okafor, who is on the verge of joining Premier League newcomers Leeds United.

Like Okafor, the Super Eagles star is versatile in attack as he's capable of operating as a centre forward or from either flank.

Despite being contracted to Leverkusen until 2028, Boniface has slipped down the pecking order under new head coach Erik ten Hag, who has placed his trust in Patrick Schick following the Czech striker's contract extension.

Boniface was named among the substitutes but did not feature in Leverkusen’s first competitive game of the new campaign – a 4-0 victory over SG Sonnenhof Großaspach in the DFB-Pokal.
