Son of ex-Super Eagles centre-back makes senior debut for Club Brugge in win v Rangers
Published: August 28, 2025
Kaye Furo, son of former Super Eagles centre-back Furo Iyenemi, marked his senior debut for Club Brugge on Wednesday night as the Belgian giants thrashed Rangers 6-0 in their UEFA Champions League playoff second leg clash at the Jan Breydel Stadium.
The 18-year-old forward was introduced in the 68th minute, replacing Nicolò Tresoldi, as Club Brugge sealed a commanding 9-1 aggregate victory to book their place in the group stage of the competition.
Tresoldi had opened the scoring inside five minutes before Rangers’ hopes of a comeback were dashed when Max Aarons was shown a red card just three minutes later.
Hans Vanaken doubled the hosts’ advantage in the 32nd minute, while Joaquin Seys netted twice, and Aleksandar Stanković and Christos Tzolis added further goals to complete the demolition.
Though Furo had limited time to make an impact, he gave glimpses of his potential in front of an appreciative home crowd.
His cameo comes just a week after signing a contract extension that will keep him at Club Brugge until July 2027.
On the International level, the youngster has represented Belgium across various youth levels.
He became provisionally cap-tied to the Red Devils on March 20, 2024, after featuring in a UEFA U17 European Championship qualifier against Finland, where he replaced fellow Nigerian-Belgian striker Chike Van De Ven at halftime.
As the season progresses, Furo will be keen to build on momentum and feature more for the senior team to continue his development and integration into professional football.
