Confirmed: Son of former Super Eagles striker signs new Monza deal before loan move
Published: September 01, 2025
AC Monza have confirmed that Italian-Nigerian-Ghanaian winger Kevin Martins has signed a new contract with the Serie B club, extending his stay in Lombardy until June 30, 2028.
In the same announcement, the club revealed that Martins will spend the remainder of the 2025–2026 season on loan at Serie C side Sambenedettese, where he is expected to gain further first-team experience.
Martins, 20, made his professional debut in a Coppa Italia tie against Brescia in September 2024 and went on to feature in nine Serie A matches last season.
Despite limited minutes, he contributed two assists in 287 minutes across 11 appearances in all competitions.
A product of the Inter Milan academy, Martins is carving out his own path in professional football while following in the footsteps of his father, former Nigeria international striker Obafemi Martins, and his uncle, Mario Balotelli.
At youth level, he impressed with 11 goals and nine assists across spells with Monza's U18 and U19 sides, as well as Inter's U17 and U18 teams.
Born in Milan, Martins has represented Italy at U15 level but remains eligible to play for Nigeria's Flying Eagles as his international appearances to date have come in friendlies.
Obafemi Martins, his father, enjoyed a distinguished career with the Super Eagles, featuring at both the Africa Cup of Nations and the Fifa World Cup.
