'Trained this morning' – Fulham manager confirms Iwobi's injury is not serious
Published: September 19, 2025
Fulham manager Marco Silva has confirmed that Nigerian midfielder Alex Iwobi could feature in Saturday night’s London derby against Brentford after shaking off a minor knock.
Iwobi, who played 76 minutes in last weekend’s 1-0 win over Leeds United, was considered a doubt during the week after sustaining a knock.
During his pre-match press conference, Silva confirmed that Iwobi took part in Friday’s training session and remains in contention to face Brentford.
"No fresh news, some knocks, but nothing serious. Nothing to change anything special," Silva told reporters.
"[Alex] Iwobi trained this morning, no serious problem. Let's see his reaction. We took care of him."
Since arriving from Everton in the summer of 2023, Iwobi has established himself as a key figure for the Cottagers.
The Super Eagles international enjoyed his most productive campaign last season, registering nine goals and six assists in 38 Premier League appearances.
With Fulham looking to build momentum after a slow start to the season, Silva will be eager to have the 29-year-old available to maintain their recent good form.
