Lookman makes season debut, Ahanor subbed in as Atalanta thrash Anjorin's Torino

Ademola Lookman made his long-awaited season debut as Atalanta secured an emphatic 3-0 victory away to Faustino Anjorin's Torino in Serie A on Sunday afternoon.

The reigning African Footballer of the Year was introduced in the 87th minute, replacing Kamaldeen Sulemana, to mark his first appearance of the campaign after a difficult summer.

Lookman’s return comes as a boost for Ivan Juric's side, who have ambitions to challenge domestically and in Europe.

Atalanta had already sealed the points before the Nigerian forward’s late cameo.

Nikola Krstovic opened the scoring on the half-hour mark, before Sulemana doubled the lead with a clinical strike in the 34th minute.

Krstovic then grabbed his brace four minutes later after being set up by Sulemana, completing a dominant first-half display.

The fixture also marked a memorable occasion for teenager Honest Ahanor, who made his first appearance for Atalanta in  the Serie A..

The 17-year-old defender, signed from Genoa in the last transfer window, was called into action in the 27th minute when Isak Hien was forced off through injury.

Despite his tender age, Ahanor settled quickly into the contest, showing composure in defense and giving fans a glimpse of his potential.

Born in Italy to Nigerian parents, Ahanor is eligible to represent the Super Eagles at international level, and his progression will be closely monitored by the Nigerian Football Federation.
