'We will see' - Galatasaray coach delivers fitness update on Osimhen ahead of Liverpool clash
Published: September 29, 2025
Galatasaray coach Okan Buruk has revealed that Victor Osimhen will undergo a late fitness test to determine his availability for Tuesday's mouthwatering Champions League clash with Liverpool at Ali Sami Yen Spor Kompleksi.
Although Osimhen has resumed training with the Turkish champions in recent days, doubts remain over his fitness as the former African Footballer of the Year has played only ten minutes of club football since suffering an ankle injury in Nigeria's World Cup qualifier against Rwanda on September 6.
His involvement against the Premier League champions remains uncertain, with the coaching staff set to make a late call.
In quotes relayed by habersarikirmizi.com, Buruk told reporters on Monday: "Victor continued training. We will see how he was in the last training session today.
"It is positive that he played 10 minutes in the last match and continued training. We will look at his condition today and make a decision."
With Osimhen unavailable for selection on matchday one, Galatasaray suffered a humiliating 5-1 defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt, despite opening the scoring through Yunus Akgün.
Osimhen's potential inclusion would be a major boost for the Turkish champions as they prepare to face Arne Slot's side in Istanbul.
The 26-year-old is regarded as Galatasaray's key attacking threat, and his return could significantly strengthen their chances of securing a result against the six-time European champions.
Before picking up an injury on international duty, Osimhen had scored in back-to-back starts in the Super Lig.
