SYLVESTER IGBONU: I Had A Wonderful Season
Published: May 22, 2012
The 21-year-old forward had an outstanding season for the Wolves, netting 8 goals in 31 appearances. Statistically, Igbonu is the seventh best striker playing in the Superliga.
''The reason why I am out tomorrow is that I've picked up three yellow cards. I will rate myself high in the outgoing season. Despite playing most matches from the wings, I ended up with 8 goals and 11 assists. FCM also qualified to play in Europe next season, so I can say I had a wonderful season. It is always a pleasure playing in a European competition,'' Igbonu told allnigeriasoccer.com.
Under contract with FCM until the summer of 2015, Igbonu is reportedly being trailed by some unnamed clubs in Western Europe.
He said: ''So many clubs are showing interest in my services. But I just need to wait to evaluate those offers when I come back from vacation. We will see what happens....I am definitely waiting for something positive.''
Also absent against AGF is the highly rated combative midfielder Izunna Uzochukwu, who is suspended due to accumulated card offenses.
