DERICK OGBU: They Don't Know Me So Well In Nigeria
Published: October 09, 2012
Emergent Nigerian attacker Derick Chuka Ogbu has told Belgian media that he had little information of the country when he joined OH Leuven two summers ago from Qatari club Umm-Salal.
''I had never had of this country but this time is thankfully long behind me. Amokachi, Babayaro, Oliseh........ there are many famous Nigerians that started in Belgium. They all played for Nigeria. I do not know if I will play for Nigeria.
'' Because I'm currently active abroad, they don't know me so well in Nigeria. Last year was the first time I got a call from a Nigerian newspaper (Ikenwa Nnabuogor National Mirror,ed) for an interview. No idea how they got my number,'' Ogbu informed Het Nieuwsblad.
This week, 22-year-old Derick Chuka Ogbu made the back pages of most Nigerian newspapers following his hat-trick against Sporting Charleroi last Saturday.
