Published: December 16, 2012
Nigeria international Eddy Onazi has sensationally revealed to allnigeriasoccer.com that he might not be extending his contract with Italian club Lazio.
Reports at home and abroad are strongly linking the teenage sensation with a move to White Hart Lane in the January transfer window. And to quench those speculations, the Biancocelesti hierarchy offered him a two - year contract extension with improved wages. Now, it appears negotiations between club and player have stalled.
''I have not signed a new contract with Lazio, still have the old one. For now, I might not be renewing my contract with the club for personal reasons. Everything will become clearer next month,'' Onazi, who is expected to be named by coach Stephen Keshi in his preliminary African Cup of Nations roster, told allnigeriasoccer.com in a telephone conversation on Sunday.
Eddy Onazi is under contract with Lazio until June 2014. According to reports, he currently earns 20,000 euros a season. But if he puts pen to paper on a new deal, he'll earn 15 times more.
