Football Fans Pay Tribute To Late 3SC Baba Eleran

The late Shooting Stars Sports Club’s (3SC) number one supporter, Ganiyu Elekuru was remembered during a photo exhibition tagged ‘Football, A Nigerian Passion’ organized by a sports photo journalist Ademola Bamigbelu in collaboration with the Ibadan based French village, also known as Alliance Francaise.
Alain Croguennec, a French and the director of the French village in his speech at the event said the photo football exhibition which will now be an annual event was their own way of celebrating Nigerian football fans after winning African Cup of Nations this year.
“As for football, needless to say that it is a fundamental part of any African society. Particularly in Nigeria, football is more than a sport in many regards, it is passion that inspires that youths and pushes them to train always harder, to go beyond limits.
“It is also formidable tool that the society together, it can only be stated that the entire country gets united when the national team comes into play. In brief, football is a characteristic of the Nigeria society that cannot be neglected”, Croguennec noted.
The family of the late Baba Eleran who stormed the event in large numbers also expressed their gratitude to Bamigbelu, the photo journalist for remembering their father who died on November 5, 2005.
