Dapo Afolayan continued his rich vein of form as the Super Eagles hopeful scored and provided an assist to help Blackburn Rovers secure a share of the spoils in a 2-2 draw against Portsmouth in a Championship clash at Fratton Park on Saturday.
The former England C international has committed his international future to Nigeria but is still awaiting his first call-up despite holding talks with the leadership of the Nigeria Football Federation during the 2025 Unity Cup in London.
Against Portsmouth, Afolayan fired a low shot into the bottom corner in the 11th minute to level the scores after Zak Swanson had put the hosts ahead four minutes into the game.
Ten minutes into the second half, Afolayan turned provider, laying the ball off for Ryoya Morishita, who coolly slotted his effort into the bottom corner to give Blackburn the lead.
However, Blackburn were denied all three points 16 minutes from time when Colby Bishop diverted a shot into his own net to make it 2-2.
Afolayan has now registered four goal involvements in his last two Championship appearances, having scored twice to inspire Blackburn to a 3-1 victory over Millwall last weekend.
The attacker joined Blackburn from German outfit St. Pauli in February 2026, signing a contract that runs until June 30, 2027.
Meanwhile, Ryan Alebiosu has fully recovered from the illness that forced him off at half-time during the 3-1 win over Millwall, with the Super Eagles right-back going the distance against Pompey.
