Super Eagles forward Olakunle Olusegun has explained the key factors behind his decision to join Russian Premier League side FC Rostov from Krasnodar during the current summer transfer window.
The Nigerian international completed a permanent move to FC Rostov after an impressive loan spell at Pari Nizhny Novgorod, where he spent the 2025/26 season on loan from Krasnodar.
Despite Pari Nizhny Novgorod's relegation to the Russian second tier, Olakunle delivered standout performances, scoring five goals and providing two assists in 26 league appearances.
His consistent displays throughout the campaign convinced FC Rostov to secure his signature on a permanent deal during the current summer transfer window.
In quotes relayed by Soccer.ru, Olakunle revealed that the club's coaching philosophy and the confidence shown in him by the manager played a decisive role in his decision to make the switch.
“I like the coach's style of play and his attitude toward me. That's why I chose Rostov,” Olakunle said.
The Nigerian international also expressed optimism about the team's prospects for the new campaign, backing Rostov to improve on their previous performances.
“I'm confident the club will play better this season,” he added.
Olakunle has already made a positive start to life at his new club, featuring in Rostov's opening two league fixtures against Orenburg and Rodina Moscow.
The former Krasnodar forward will be aiming to build on his encouraging start, establish himself as a regular starter, and justify the club's decision to complete his permanent transfer during the summer window.
