Trabzonspor forward Mohamed Salah has broken the record set by former Super Eagles forward Anthony Nwakaeme following his brilliant contribution in the 4-0 win over Galatasaray on Saturday.
The former Liverpool forward scored a hat-trick and provided an assist as Trabzonspor secured the emphatic victory at Papara Park, writing his name into the history books of the club.
According to Opta Can, Salah became the first Trabzonspor player since Nwakaeme in September 2018 to contribute to three goals in a match against Galatasaray following his first-half contribution.
However, the Egyptian forward surpassed the record with his strike in the second half, becoming the first Trabzonspor player to score a hat-trick against Galatasaray.
Nwakaeme was a cult hero for the Clarets-Blues during his two spells with Trabzonspor, showcasing incredible displays throughout his time at the club.
The Nigerian striker established himself as one of the club's most influential attackers with his versatility, clinical finishing and ability to create goals.
His performances earned him a special place among the club's supporters, while he recorded 50 goals and 48 assists in 193 appearances for the Turkish side.
Salah, who joined the club in the summer, will be keen to continue his brilliant start and emulate the reputation established by the Nigerian striker during his time at Trabzonspor.
