Russia defender Arsen Adamov has acknowledged that Nigeria will provide a stern test when the two nations meet during the October international break.
The Super Eagles are scheduled to face Russia at the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium in Nizhny Novgorod on Tuesday, October 6.
Before the friendly, Russia will take on Iran on September 29 and Namibia on October 3, while the Super Eagles will battle Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
A right-back by trade, Adamov was part of the Russia squad that played out a 1-1 draw with Nigeria in June 2025, with Tolu Arokodare's strike cancelling out Semi Ajayi's own goal.
He described Nigeria and Iran as strong opponents and expects both matches to be entertaining for players and supporters.
In quotes relayed by Sports, the Akhmat Grozny ace said: "This isn't the first time we've played Iran and Nigeria; they're very strong teams.
"There will be interesting matches for us and for the fans. Iran and Nigeria are very strong opponents."
Adamov warned that the African teams, including Namibia, could pose problems for Russia.
"The only thing is, I don't know anything about Namibia. African teams are strong. I think it won't be easy against them either."
Eric Chelle has named a 24-man squad for the trip to Russia, with Kelechi Iheanacho, Moses Simon, Akor Adams, Wilfred Ndidi, Raphael Onyedika and Stanley Nwabali among the notable players included.
