'We are all pumped up' - Udinese GK Okoye discusses ambition for 2026-27 season, growing popularity

Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has declared his readiness for the new season, insisting he is determined to give everything for Udinese during the 2026-27 campaign.

With the new season approaching, the Nigerian goalkeeper believes the hard work put in during preparation has left the team in a good position to pursue its objectives.

Okoye also revealed his personal desire to contribute fully to the team and its supporters.

“We're ready. We've worked so hard over the past few weeks, and we're all pumped up for the start of the season. We have our goals, and we want to try to achieve them. Personally, I want to give everything for Udinese, for the team, and for our fans,” he said, as quoted by Tuttoudinese.

Okoye also reflected on his activities away from football during the summer, having featured in several international events, including Formula 1 and the fashion world.

While those appearances have helped increase his media exposure, the goalkeeper explained that he maintains a clear distinction between his personal branding and his football career.

Reflecting on his growing popularity, Okoye added: “These things are part of my life and are also important for my personal branding. But I keep the two separate. Football is one thing, what I do off the pitch is another. When I'm here, I think about my work and Udinese.”

Attention has also turned to Udinese's goalkeeping department following changes from last season. Edoardo Piana returns following Nunziante's departure, while the experience of Daniele Padelli remains an important part of the group.

Okoye welcomed the opportunity to work alongside both goalkeepers, highlighting Piana's potential while also pointing to the experience Padelli brings to the department.

“We're in good hands. Piana is a young goalkeeper and has great talent. Then we have Padelli, who brings a lot of quality but, above all, immense experience. I'm excited to see how the boys develop,” he concluded.
