Racing Genk striker Rafiu Durosinmi has expressed confidence that his side can compete strongly against Club Brugge when both teams meet at the Jan Breydel Stadium on Sunday.
Durosinmi, who joined the Belgian club during the summer transfer window, has enjoyed an impressive start to the campaign, scoring five goals in six appearances.
Despite the Nigerian striker’s fine form, Genk have struggled for consistency and currently sit ninth in the league table with nine points from six matches.
Speaking to Walfoot, the Nigerian International challenged the club to improve their form and mount a stronger challenge for the title
"This is absolutely not where we want to be," Rafiu Durosinmi said. "I'm convinced we'll soon be back at the top of the table. As a team, we simply need to do better.”
Durosinmi admitted that the team’s current position is below expectations, stressing that they must start converting more matches into victories.
“We don't want to be in this position, and we don't want to keep drawing games. We always want to play for three points because our goal is to fight for the title,” he added.
The forward also expressed confidence in the commitment within the squad, insisting that the players have the ability to compete with Club Brugge and other top teams in the league.
"I see the group we have. Everyone is ready to give their all in every training session and in every match. Why couldn't we compete with the teams that are playing for the title? We are also capable of it."
The Super Eagles star will be looking to maintain his impressive form against Club Brugge and help Genk secure a positive result.
