No agreement yet on Osimhen: Galatasaray reject Napoli's payment plan and sell-on clause

Negotiations for the permanent transfer of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen from Napoli to Galatasaray have hit a snag, with the Turkish club rejecting Napoli’s latest financial demands, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano

The ongoing saga, which has dominated headlines this summer, underscores the complexities of securing one of Europe’s most sought-after forwards.

Napoli proposed a payment structure of €40 million upfront, an additional €35 million by 2026, and a sell-on clause entitling them to a percentage of any future transfer.

However, Galatasaray countered with an offer to pay €35 million by 2027 and firmly declined to include a sell-on clause.

Despite the impasse, Romano indicates that talks could resume if either side adjusts their terms.

Osimhen, who spent the 2024-25 season on loan at Galatasaray, was instrumental in their Turkish Super Lig and cup double, scoring an impressive 37 goals in 41 appearances.

His desire to remain with the Istanbul club is clear, as reports suggest he has refused to participate in Napoli’s pre-season training, signaling his commitment to finalizing a permanent move.

Napoli, however, remain steadfast. Club president Aurelio De Laurentiis is reportedly insisting on robust financial guarantees and has introduced an “anti-Italy” clause to prevent Osimhen from joining another Serie A club until the 2028-29 season.

This, coupled with their demand for a 20% sell-on fee, has complicated negotiations.
