CSKA Moscow midfielder Matvey Kislyak has admitted his disappointment after Russia surrendered a two-goal lead to draw 3-3 with Nigeria in an international friendly at the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium on Tuesday evening.
Kislyak was one of Russia's standout performers on the night, playing a key role in the hosts’ attacking display.
He set up Lechi Sadulaev for Russia's equaliser in the 30th minute before getting on the scoresheet himself shortly before half-time to put the hosts 2-1 ahead.
Aleksey Miranchuk extended Russia's advantage in the 54th minute, but Nigeria fought back as debutant Peter Edokpolor and Akor Adams found the net to earn the Super Eagles a share of the spoils.
The draw ended Russia's impressive four-game winning streak, during which they scored 14 goals without conceding.
Asked what prevented Russia from holding on to their lead in the closing stages, Kislyak pointed to individual mistakes and lapses in concentration.
"It's hard to say. Basically, everything worked out for us. I think we played a good game," Kislyak said to Izvestia.
"It's just that individual errors led to opportunities near our own goal that led to goals.
"Of those three goals we conceded, two were due to a loss of concentration. Of course, conceding three goals is always bad. But overall, it was a good match on our part.
Against Russia, Chelle handed debuts to nine promising youngsters, including Samuel James, Isaac James, Stephen Michael, Wilfred Igor, Chibuzo Nwoko, Vince Osuji, Peter Edokpolor, Abdullahi Umar and Umar Abubakar.
