Super Eagles manager Eric Chelle has extended an invitation to Rostov midfielder Ibraheem Mahfus Ajasa ahead of Nigeria’s international friendly against Russia on Tuesday, October 6.
Ajasa, who joined the Russian club in 2025, is expected to link up with the Super Eagles squad as they continue preparations for the encounter.
Nigeria arrived in Russia during the week following their disappointing 3-0 defeat to Guinea-Bissau in a 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying fixture.
The Super Eagles held their first training session in Russia on Saturday despite the withdrawals of several key players, including captain Wilfred Ndidi, Akpe Victory and Bright Osayi-Samuel.
The former Leicester City midfielder and Victory have since been replaced by Stade de Reims midfielder John Oromewo and Tromsø defender Vince Osuji.
According to Rostov’s official webpage, Chelle has invited Ajasa to join the Super Eagles camp.
The 20-year-old could provide an additional option in midfieldr while also giving the Malian tactician an opportunity to assess him at close range.
Ajasa will be hoping to make a strong impression during his time with the national team and stake a claim for future involvement with the Super Eagles.
His invitation also represents an opportunity for the young midfielder to gain experience at senior international level.
Nigeria will face the Russian national team at the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium on Tuesday as they round off their activities during the October international window.
