Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman will wear the No. 11 jersey for Atlético Madrid in the 2026/27 season, replacing the No. 22 he wore after joining the Spanish club, with the change confirmed on the club’s official channel.
Lookman enjoyed an impressive first season in Madrid after arriving from Atalanta during the January transfer window.
He quickly became an important attacking option for Diego Simeone and produced decisive moments in both domestic and European competitions.
The 28-year-old scored nine goals for Atlético Madrid during the second half of the 2025/26 campaign across all competitions.
His goals included strikes in the Copa del Rey, Champions League and La Liga,
Lookman also played an important role in Atlético's Champions League run, scoring in the quarter-final second leg against Barcelona as the Spanish side secured their place in the semi-finals.
The former African Footballer of the Year will now begin the new campaign with the No. 11 shirt, with Atlético Madrid scheduled to open their 2026/27 La Liga campaign at home against Málaga at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano Stadium on August 19.
The fixture will provide Lookman with an opportunity to make his first competitive appearance of the new season in his new jersey number.
