Alexey Safonov, the agent of Dynamo Moscow striker Konstantin Tyukavin, has backed his client to find the net when Russia face Nigeria in an international friendly on Tuesday, October 6.
Tyukavin continued his impressive form for the national team by scoring in Russia’s 6-0 victory over Namibia in a friendly encounter on Saturday.
Speaking after the win, Safonov praised the striker’s performance and stressed that goals remain the most important measure for a forward.
He also expressed confidence that Tyukavin will score against Nigeria, regardless of the strength of the opposition.
"Tyukavin is playing well. The goal against Namibia isn't a good indicator; the next match against Nigeria —we'll see then," Tyukavin said to Euro Football.
"A striker has to score: if his name is on the scoreboard, it means he's done a good job. He turned around well; the ball couldn't be taken away."
"When playing for the national team, you have to try to score against everyone: Germany , Brazil , or a weaker team. I think he'll score against Nigeria too."
Tyukavin has enjoyed a strong start to the season, scoring four goals and providing one assist in seven league appearances.
The Russian forward also scored twice in Dynamo Moscow’s 3-0 victory over Rostov before the September/October international break.
