Exclusive: Oak Zeel CEO, Omeje Confirms Stephen Worgu Is Negotiating With Al Hilal
Published: December 17, 2013
Allnigeriasoccer.com has it on good authority that Stephen Worgu has arrived Sudan to begin negotiations with Al Hilal of Omdurman regarding a contract.
Though the 23 - year - old striker has been club-less for over a year after his deal ran out at another Sundanese Premier League club Al-Merrikh, he is technically not a free agent as his sporting and economic rights belong to Oak Zeel.
But the CEO of the Nsukka based grassroots team, Valentine Okechukwu Omeje claims there has not been any contact whatsoever between himself and Al Hilal.
“I received an email from Stephen Worgu on Monday evening informing me that he is on his way to Sudan to discuss with a club.
“It is not in our character to stop our players from negotiating deals on their own.
“In the long run, the Sudanese club must contact us after they agree personal terms with Stephen because we are in possession of his clearance,” says Omeje to allnigeriasoccer.com.
Stephen Worgu had earlier ruled out a return to Sudan but a Malaysian club that had courted him had not backed up their interest with an official approach to Oak Zeel.
He sensationally refused to undergo tests with Zamalek and Norwegians Aalesunds , preferring the outright offer of a contract.
