Women League Boss Lauds Oyo Commissioner Over Women Football
Published: November 04, 2014
The leadership of Nigeria Women League Board has commended the personal effort of Oyo State Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Hon. Farouk Umar Alao in making sure that TEWO Queens that represented the state at the just concluded Nigerian Women Football League had a successful outing.
Nigerian Women League Board (NWLB) Chairperson Chief Mrs. Dili Onyedinma who noted this in a commendation letter she signed and dispatched to the Oyo Commissioner also described Oyo as one of strong forces the Nigerian Women League with record of almost a decade of participation.
But she expressed her displeasure over the state of the game in Oyo State that formerly had two strong professional sides in the women top cadre, (Tewo Queens and NITO Queens), but thanked the Commissioner for making effort in sustaining one of the teams.
“We learnt that the Oyo commissioner approved a camp within the Lekan Salami Sports Complex Adamasingba Ibadan for the ladies to camp temporarily and personally bankrolled their campaign budget pending the formal taking over process of the team by the state government.
“This gesture must be appreciated and commended by NWLB and that is why we are wishing Hon. Arisekola success in his other endeavours and urge other well meaning individuals in our society to lend their hands of support to women football, as government cannot do it alone”, the statement reads.
